Cure Therapeutics Secures Seed Financing
Company Develops Patch to Accelerate Healing of Injured Tendons

NEW YORK, NY, January 13, 2005 - Cure Therapeutics Inc., an early stage healthcare company dedicated to the development and commercialization of an important new class of therapeutics for chronic tendonopathy, a condition most often associated with such work- and sports-related afflictions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff and tennis elbow injuries, announced that it has closed a seed round of financing. The size of the round was not disclosed.

Over 28 million Americans seek treatment for musculoskeletal injuries each year. More than three million require hospitalization, at a cost of over $5 billion per year. The treatment of tendonopathies has remained essentially unchanged for decades. Traditional therapies include bandages, anti-inflammatory creams and ointments, crutches and simple bed rest. Though some advancement has occurred with a variety of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, for the large part limited innovation has occurred in this area.

Cure Therapeutics' product focus is based on technology developed at and licensed from the Hospital for Special Surgery, one of the world's leading orthopedic hospitals, by George Murrell, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Cure Therapeutics' CurellRx™ Patch will apply novel and highly advanced nitric oxide technology, intended to stimulate the formation of collagen and other connective tissue elements. CurellRx should enable the accelerated healing of tendons which are resistant to other known therapies, thereby improving symptoms of pain and stiffness, and greatly increasing patient quality of life.

Cure Therapeutics is founded by Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures, who provided initial funding. Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures, a seed/early-stage fund that invests in opportunities across the healthcare sectors, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, instrumentation, healthcare services and medical information systems. Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures is part of Carrot Capital, a New York City-based venture capital group. Its mission is to help healthcare entrepreneurs accelerate their business development, compress critical milestones, build high caliber management teams, and create successful enterprises. The fund has a two-fold investment strategy: to serve as lead investors in seed and early stage healthcare companies, and to license and commercialize healthcare technology from universities and research institutions
